Preparationof multifunctional biodegradable nanoparticles

The major goal of researches in thisarea is design and development of novel biodegradable nanoparticles such as PLGA-based polymeric particles, proteins and polysaccharides for the targeted delivery of drugs.

The laboratory is also involved in the synthesis of smart nanoparticles for biomedical applications with focus on the development of novel stimuli sensitive hydrogel nanocomposites for drug delivery and tissue engineering. Thermo- and/or pH- sensitive core-shell hydrogels have been synthesized and used as a template for the deposition of metal nanoparticles (magnetic Fe3O4, Ag, Au) and also delivery of anticancer drugs (doxorubicin, methoterexate), antibiotics (amoxicillin) and ophthalmic drug delivery (dexamethasone, indomethacin).
